The IAB specialises in providing high quality, relevant financial and business qualifications for students, financial professionals and owners or managers of small businesses.

Apart from specific bookkeeping and small to medium size business qualifications, in general the IAB aims to provide a broad and valued range of services to its members and to provide qualifications designed by and with the expertise of professionals and employers. IAB qualifications make a valuable contribution to the skills of individuals, businesses and the economy.

Entry Requirements

There is no formal qualification required for entry to the qualification at this level. It is, however, recommended that before commencing a course leading to the IAB Level 1 Certificate in Book-keeping, the prospective candidates will already have basic skills in Maths and English.

IAB LEVEL 1 – PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN BOOKKEEPING
Duration: 3 months
Intakes: January, April, July, October
 
  • An Introduction to Book-keeping & Accounting
  • Value Added Tax (VAT)
  • Business Documents
  • Process and Record Credit
  • Transactions
  • Make & Receive Payment
  • Banking Monies Received
  • The Analysed Cash Book
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Petty Cash
 
IAB LEVEL 2 – CERTIFICATE IN BOOKKEEPING
Duration: 3 months
Intakes: March, August
 
  • Principles of Bookkeeping & Value Added Taxes
  • Financial Services & Payment Methods
  • Prepare & Check Business Documents
  • Record Transactions in a Sub-divided Bookkeeping System
  • Prepare Trial Balance & Reconciliation
 
IAB LEVEL 3 – CERTIFICATE IN BOOKKEEPING & ACCOUNTING
Duration: 3 months

Intakes: March, August 

  • Principles of Accounting
  • Making Accounting Adjustments
  • Prepare Financial Statements from Double Entry Records for Sole Traders & Partnerships
  • Prepare Financial Statements for Incomplete Records for Sole Traders & Not For Profit Organisations

IAB Certification

All candidates who achieve a Pass grade will receive a Certificate from IAB for the successful completion of the corresponding IAB Level.

IAB Level 1

  • 1 Examination – 55% passing mark

IAB Level 2

  • 2 Knowledge Tests – 70% passing mark
  • 2 Assignments – 70% passing mark
  • 1 Examination – 70% passing mark

IAB Level 3

  • 1 Knowledge Test – 70% passing mark
  • 2 Assignments – 70% passing mark
  • 1 Examination – 60% passing mark
